How to Spring clean your Pinterest account

How to clean up your Pinterest account

Pinterest accounts need a clean up just like the house does after the Christmas festivities. Fresh, focussed and ready to tackle the year ahead. Here are a few tips to help you Spring clean and freshen up your Pinterest account this year;-

Firstly, do you really need all of those personal boards on your account?

Switch to a business account and hide the personal ones OR set up a Business account from scratch and keep them totally separate. Personally, I use the same account for my personal pinning and my business activities by setting all of my personal boards to ‘secret’ and ensuring that none of the personal content I am searching for or pinning appears on the public face of my Pinterest account.

This keeps my account business focussed and enables me to use my account for personal pinning with exactly the same enjoyment and usefulness, it’s just me that sees the Pins!

Start as you mean to go on.

Spend some time doing your keyword research as this will determine so much of what you do moving forward and your success. In doing so, think about your audience…

Who are you trying to help, who are you actually trying to talk to and how are you talking to them?

How does your ideal client think and what terms and words would they use to search for what solution you are offering them?

By working on your keyword research you’ll be able to find the essential words to use across your account and in the 6 main places they need to go to after you’ve used them in your account profile and bio that is 🙂

Keywords should be present throughout your Pinterest account and you should include them in the following places;-

  1. Board Titles
  2. Board Descriptions
  3. The titles of your Pins
  4. Pin descriptions
  5. Text overlay
  6. The content they link to – ie the product listing or blog post.

Your Pinterest Boards

Once you have done that, you can prioritise and clean up your boards and your entire Pinterest account based on the keywords that are relevant to your business but not your personal life!

Consider deleting or archiving those ‘non-business relevant’ boards. Your Kids next party theme or your dream boot room probably isn’t relevant to your ideal client!
